The LimeLight IPL wavelength range is 520nm to 1100nm, as there are multiple wavelengths of light absorbed by the chromophores melanin and hemaglobin.

For benign pigmented lesions, the light is absorbed by melanin. For vascular lesions the light is absorbed by hemaglobin in the veins and the heat produced causes photocoagulation. Heat is transferred to the vessel wall which ultimately destroys the vessel.
